Lionel Edward Dhu - Information
Lionel Edward Dhu decided to enlist in the AIF on the 8th of December 1917 at South Head, NSW. Lionel was born in Campbelltown in 1892, and at the time he enlisted, was living in Maclean with his wife, Ellen, and working as a labourer.
It is not very clear why, but Lionel was no longer in the forces by the beginning of 1918. Later in the year, he enlisted again on the 28th of August 1918. He was made a Gunner with the Heavy Artillery Brigade, and on the 1st of November was appointed Acting Corporal. A few days later the war was over, and Lionel was discharged when his enlistment period expired.
