William was another Freeburn from Luddenham that joined the war effort, most likely a cousin of George and Reginald Freeburn. William signed up on the 21st of August 1918 in Sydney at the tender age of 18. He was born in Luddenham on the 25th of February 1900 to William and Lydia Freeburn. He grew up in Luddenham and was still residing there and working as a labourer when he enlisted. He joined a composite Battalion at the M & D Depot in Liverpool and commenced his training. However, shortly the Armistice was signed on the 11th of November and the war was over. His unit was demobilised a week later and he was discharged when his enlistment period expired. He returned home to his family in Luddenham.
