Walter John Creighton - Information
Walter John Creighton belonged to a Camden farming family. He was born to Henry and Susanna Creighton on the 20th of October 1894 in Camden. Walter grew up in the area, before relocating to the outer Sydney suburbs. Here, Walter eventually married Ann Cox in Redfern in 1913. Walter and Ann then settled down on Penshurst St in Willoughby. Walter supported the family working as a plasterer while he finished up a 5 year military service with the St George Rifles. He then decided to enlist in the AIF and head overseas. He signed up in Casula on the 7th of February 1916, and commenced his training. While he was gone, Ann relocated to Crows Nest. Walter was posted to various units, including the 3rd Battalion, and then the 20th and 21st Reinforcements of the 13th Battalion. However, his military service did not work out. On the 16th of November, Walter was discharged from the AIF.
