Patrick Brennan - Information
Patrick Brennan was born in Campbelltown in December 1867. Remarkably at 48 years of age, he enlisted in the AIF on the 13th of September 1915 in Melbourne. At the time, he was living in Oakleigh, Victoria with his wife Catherine and working as a groom and driver.
When he joined up, Patrick was made a Private with the 1st Remount Unit. His unit was then shipped out from Melbourne on the 12th of November 1915 aboard the HMAT Orsova and landed in Egypt. After arriving, Patrick was marched into Camp at Moascar and taken Heliopolis on the 9th of October 1916. The Remount Units trained horses for warfare to serve in cavalry, mounted infantry and transport units. They were soon demobilised, and Patrick was transferred back to Australia. Consequently, he sailed from Suez on the 18th of October 1916 aboard the HT Vestalia.
