Norman Thomas Jones - Information
Norman Thomas Jones was born on the 21st of December 1896 in Campbelltown. When the war started, Norman was living on Camden Rd in Campbelltown with his family and working as a farmer. He then decided to join the war effort by enlisting in the AIF. He signed up in Sydney on the 6th of June 1918, aged 22. Norman’s decision was greatly received by the residents of Campbelltown. In fact, his enlistment was published in The Campbelltown Herald newspaper on the 15th of June, a few days after he travelled to Sydney to join the military.
Norman trained at the M & D Depot in Liverpool, where he was posted to the NSW Reinforcements. Norman was then shipped out on the SS Carpentaria from Sydney on the 7th of November 1918. While he was at sea the war ended, and he was safely returned home to Australia.
