Harry Green - Information
When the war commenced, Harry was living at the Convent in Camden, with his sister Ms M. Green. Harry supported himself working as a labourer, and had previously served in the militia. At the age of 20, Harry decided to enlist in the AIF, signing up in Newcastle on the 12th of August 1915. He was made a Private with the 13th Reinforcements, 13th Battalion and departed Sydney on the 20th of December 1915 onboard the HMAT Aeneas.
Harry joined the 13th Battalion in Egypt at Tel-el-Kebir in early March 1916. The next day, he was transferred to the Transport Section Ordnance. On the 16th of March, he was taken on strength the 38th Battery, 10th Field Artillery Brigade. On the 1st of June, he was mustered as a Driver, and left Alexandria for Marseilles. Harry worked in the artillery aiding operations. In December, when the weather turned bad, Harry was admitted to hospital in Rouen for a week. He then returned to Australia on the 1st of May 1919.
