George Kenneth Pugh - Information

George Kenneth Pugh was born in Douglas Park c1883. As the war progressed, George's father, William, had moved the family to Queen St in Homebush. George, however, had relocated to Clinton St in Goulburn, where he worked as a clerk. He later decided to enlist in the AIF in Goulburn on the 23rd of March 1917, aged 23. He trained at the Royal Showground Camp in Sydney, and was appointed Acting Corporal at the M & D Depot in Liverpool on the 3rd of July. In December, George was posted to the Army Service Corps as a Private, becoming a Driver in March 1918. He was then shipped overseas, sailing out of Sydney Harbour on the HMAT Port Darwin on the 30th of April 1918.

George arrived in Southampton on the 16th of July, and began working on details with the Army Service Corps. A year later, he was completing duty with No. 4 ASC details at Tidworth. George was then sent back to Australia on the 3rd of September on the Barambah, and was discharged from military service in November.
