Geoffrey Gore - Information
Geoffrey Gore was born in Tempe on the 12th of December 1899. He eventually came to Campbelltown with his family settling on Broughton St. While working as a draughtsman, Geoffrey watched many of Campbelltownâs boys rush off to enlist. When he was old enough, he signed up in Sydney on the 18th of May 1918, aged 18. He was then taken to the M & D Depot in Liverpool for recruitment training.
Geoffrey was shipped out, departing Sydney as part of the NSW Reinforcements aboard the HMAT Borda on the 17th of July 1918. Upon arrival in England, Geoffrey was allocated to the 18th Battalion and marched into the 5th Training Battalion in Fovant. Geoffrey was still in England after the war ended, and was detached for duty with the Australian Army Postal Corps in Brightlingsea in February 1919. He began his trip home on the Suevic on the 23rd of July 1919.
