Francis John Dunstan was born in Camden c1895. When the war started, he was living at 249 Old Canterbury Rd in Petersham with his mother, Mary. At the time, Francis was supporting himself working as a barber. At the age of 20, Francis enlisted in the AIF in Casula on the 16th of November 1915. He commenced his training at the Infantry Depot in Liverpool. However, in mid February 1916, he broke camp and deserted. In March, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
