Eric Alvin Suttor - Information

Eric Alvin Suttor was born at Varroville near Campbelltown on the 5th of October 1881. He grew up in the area with his siblings, while his father, Frederick, made a living as an Esquire and Justice of the Peace. Eric then moved to Sydney, where he married Isabel Callaghan in St Leonards in 1911. Eric and Isabel resided in Epping, while Eric continued his studies. After the war began, his brother, Gerald, joined the military and was sent to war in 1915. Deciding to also be of service, Eric enlisted in the AIF at the Royal Showground Camp on the 8th of October 1916, aged 35. During training, Eric was posted as a Gunner to the 7th Field Artillery Brigade. However, on the 27th of February 1917, he was discharged from the AIF for being medically unfit.
