Camden Clarke - Information

When the war began, Camden Clarke was living at Milton on John St in Petersham. At the time, he was a widower and working as a journalist. Camden originally came from the Camden area, where he was born. At the age of 43, he decided to enlist in the AIF and support the war effort. He signed up on the 1st of June 1915 in Warwick Farm. He then commenced his training at Warwick Farm and then Liverpool Camp from the 17th of August. However, it is believed that he deserted the camp around the 7th of December. In July 1916, after no signs of him, he was charged with desertion. He would be unable to return home, for he would have been arrested and returned to military custody.
