Arthur Searum James Fox - Information

Carpenter Arthur was a member of the Fox family of Ingleburn. Originally from Balmain, they relocated to the area in the 1890s, residing at Irex on Cumberland Rd. Arthur was a son of Charles, an Innkeeper, and Charlotte Fox, born in Balmain on the 14th of October 1890. When he was 24, he enlisted in the AIF in Liverpool on the 26th of June 1915. He commenced his training at Liverpool, however, after a while found it very difficult to keep up with the other troops and was quite ill. A medical examination revealed that Arthur was suffering with diabetes. He was subsequently classed as unfit for active service and was medically discharged. His condition was exacerbated by the intense training, so from December 1915, he and his mother were granted a pension. Sadly, at just 26 years old, Arthur passed away in Liverpool on the 26th of July 1917.
