Arthur Samuel Gee - Information

Arthur Samuel was a son of Campbelltown born Samuel and Annie Clark Gee. The Gee family had lived in Campbelltown, however, when the war started was residing in Watson'€™s Bay, where Arthur was working as a butcher. At the age of 20, Arthur joined up in Sydney on the 1st of October 1915. He was then assigned to the 21st Company, Army Service Corps, as a Private.

Arthur embarked Sydney upon the HMAT Suffolk on the 27th of November 1915. By March 1916, he was in France stationed with the Army Service Corps, performing vital services along the front. On the 16th of October 1917, he was posted for duty with the 4th Depot Unit of Supply in France. He was then taken on strength to the 1st Australian Divisional Train in early November 1918. He remained with his unit in France until April 1919. Arthur was then sent home from England on the 19th of May 1919. After he returned home, he married Emily Fenton in 1920 in Randwick.
