Alonza Victor Brook - Information
Alonza Victor was born in Camden in 1895 to Tom and Florence Brook. He eventually moved to the city with his family, where he worked as a plumber and hospital wardsman. When he was 20 years old, he enlisted in the AIF in Newcastle on the 1st of September 1915. During training, he was posted to the 30th Battalion, and then as a Trooper with the 6th Australian Light Horse Regiment. However, while he was in camp in Menangle, he was charged with breaking camp in March 1916. He was then charged with a few absent without leave infractions throughout April and May. He was subsequently discharged as ‘unlikely to become an effective soldier.’
