Albert Edward Dixon - Information
Albert Edward Dixon AKA Albert Edward Tickle, claimed he was born and raised in Picton. When he was older, he found work as a labourer, before signing up on the 24th of May 1916 in Goulburn. He was then sent overseas upon the HMAT Ceramic, leaving Sydney on the 7th of October 1916.
Albert set down in Plymouth, England as a Private with the 56th Battalion. Just before Christmas, he was transported to France. He was stationed to the 5th Australian Division Base Depot before joining the 56th Battalion in early February 1917. However, in late April, he departed Rouen for England suffering with nephritis. This condition made Albert unsuitable for active service, and he was invalided back to Australia on the 21st of July 1917, for a medical discharge.
