The Veterans Recreation Centre began in 1987 and was housed in Dredges Cottage on Queen St in Campbelltown in 1988. It is a registered charity designed to assist ex-servicemen and women to participate in a group environment with those who share their own experiences. The Centre provides assistence for those in the community who are physically disabled, house bound or socially isolated and act as an intermediary with the Department of Veteran Affairs or Centrelink in processing forms and paperwork. They also act as a memorial for the public to commemorate the many conflicts that australia has been involved in.
